Bracken Packaging

Overview: Bracken Packaging is a concept design for a liquor company specializing in black salt espresso martini liqueur. The project involved creating a unique packaging design that would stand out on the shelves while conveying the brand’s artisanal and bold character.

Role: Packaging Designer

Year: 2024

Challenge:
The task was to create a packaging design that conveyed the premium, artisanal quality of Bracken’s black salt espresso martini liqueur while ensuring the design was visually striking and unique.

Execution:
Drawing inspiration from woodcuts and linocut lines, I crafted intricate illustrations in Procreate, focusing on bold, expressive lines. The process was detailed and precise, capturing a handcrafted feel. Additionally, I painted the tentacle textures traditionally, adding a tactile depth to the box design.

Outcome:
This concept piece blends digital illustration with traditional painting, resulting in a standout packaging design that reflects the bold, artisanal nature of the liqueur. The project demonstrates my ability to create compelling, high-quality packaging through a combination of digital and traditional techniques.

Drawing Process

My drawing process is a dynamic blend of inspiration, pulling from life, public domain art, and memory. I enjoy exploring different illustration styles, refusing to be confined to just one. For the Bracken Packaging project, I focused on crafting a detailed illustration that would still function seamlessly as a packaging design. To prevent the intricate elements from becoming overwhelming, I used generous white space to balance complexity with clarity. This approach ensured that the design remained striking and cohesive, allowing the detailed artwork to shine without losing its effectiveness in a practical application.
